Elitloppet 2012 @ Solvalla, Stockholm (Sweden) is one of the largest harness racing events in the world.
It's a sunny Sunday at Solvalla, Sweden, where around 30,000 harness racing fans are present to watch the Elitlopp with North American representatives Arch Madness with Brian Sears and Windsong Geant with Rick Zeron.
On Saturday (May 26) Brian Sears got to feel the Scandinavian way of driving as he had one drive behind the Finnish trotter Target Hoss. Sears had problems in adapting to the starting procedure and caused a recall, which prompted a fine of $275. In the race, Target Hoss finished unplaced.
On Sunday morning Brian Sears took part in a show race over 150 yards. The race, Boko Stable Speed Races, had three eliminations, where Sears won the first driving Calgary Sign, but was outpaced in the final by Victory Hill, driven by Jorma Kontio.
On Saturday three tickets each won $3 million in the popular V75 bet; all three tickets were issued in South Africa.
Saturday's main event, the Sweden Cup, was won by the Danish trotter Neo Holmsminde, driven by Thomas Uhrberg. Neo Holmsminde is trained by Danish champion trainer Steen Juul, who at present is sidelined due to a hip operation.
Another trotter from the Juul stable, Classic Grand Cru, will race in the Elitlopp Sunday afternoon with Bjorn Goop in the bike.
